The work of our 2026 X-Pedition Hanoi cohort.
The last day of our X-Pedition Hanoi travel photography workshop is always bittersweet. You’re tired from nine days of pre-dawn starts. You’ve spent a lot of emotional energy opening up to a group that began as strangers and has become friends you’ll keep in touch with for years. You’re happy to be heading home to the people you love and sad to leave a city that’s seeped into your soul.
Not every group meshes. But after eight years of doing this in Vietnam and three in Cuba before that, we’ve watched this scene play out again and again and it’s still one of the best parts of running these workshops.
The talent is always a pleasure to see. So is the moment when an idea from a classroom session clicks out on the street and someone’s work takes a leap. But the images aren’t what matter most to us. The people and the friendships built over those nine days are.
Saying goodbye is hard. We hope it’s only “until we see you again.”
